With relentless energy and dedication to drumming, Ed Freitas has rapidly gained reverence in the music industry around the globe.  His unique and professional approach as performer, facilitator, clinician and in the studio has rendered him much in demand with countless artistes and organisations internationally.

Having taken up drumming at a very early age he worked continuously at excelling in his instrument.  He entered regional and national level snare drumming competitions throughout his teen years which resulted in him receiving top awards (including national colours) on a regular basis.  Since then, Ed's worked with innumerable artistes, bands and organisations as professional drummer, producer, studio engineer and guitar player in all major genres  He's performed extensively at prominent venues around the globe, including stadiums to small clubs.

Apart from his work as clinician and solo artiste, Ed is in demand as session drummer, being frequently called out to play at a moment's notice.  He works with different top artistes on a day-to-day basis, mostly signed to major labels, and also with bands seeking record deals or needing a dep.  In 2006, for example, he was booked for over 200 live performances and 300 in 2007!  In 2007 he performed in over 20 countries around the world!

Ed's own project is called Cyba*Drummer.  It stems from an idea he had in 1996 whilst in a band called 2WIN.  In the Cyba project, Ed plays his songs mostly from behind his drum kit, using triggers, electronic pads, synths, samplers and groovebosxes and vocals.  The Cyba*Drummer has been performing around the UK and globally.  The new album is close to completion and will be released through Peanut Sardine Records soon

As an independent artiste, Ed previously released 2 solo albums (CJY2K and RAID) and one EP entitled 'Steel Dance'.  The  ‘RAID’ album was released in conjunction with RockSpider Music & Publishing.  He also put out an instructional drumming CD (Overview of Basics) in 1999 and more recently a DVD titled Beat2Beat with Terl Bryant and Dez Minto.

Ed recently took part in some challenging feats, including to successfully break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the ‘longest continuous drum roll’, playing with 3 other top drummers, Terl Bryant, Calum Rees and Liam Watts for an unbelievable 22 hours non-stop!  Guinness World Records have confirmed that the attempt was successful.  Due to these and other events, he is frequently interviewed in newspapers, magazines and other publications, recently being featured for example in ‘Rhythm’ magazine with Drummerbuzz, and ‘Home & Away’ magazines amongst numerous others.

Ed has also  recently been featured on mainstream television channels in the United Kingdom, (BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channel 4) and various channels across Europe and Africa.  He appeared on the popular ‘Richard & Judy’ show for an interviewed in which he also performed a drum solo with top drummer, Terl Bryant (John Paul Jones, Honeyz etc).

Ed is founder and director of the ever-growing company Drummerbuzz Ltd and also official director/judge for WFD (World’s Fastest Drummer™) in the UK and most of the European continent (licence granted by the owner McAfee, Inc based in the USA).  As part of Drummerbuzz, he has worked with and hosted numerous world class drummers in clinics such as Gerald Heyward, Louie Palmer, Terl Bryant and a great many others.
